MAKE POLLUTERS PAY INTERNATIONAL COALITION
Big polluters profit, the world pays for it.
For decades, major fossil fuel companies have driven the climate crisis, delayed meaningful action, and profited from policies that externalise costs onto communities and governments.
We are building an international movement to make polluters pay for the damage they’ve caused. We are uniting movements, affected communities, political leaders, artists and experts to hold big oil, gas, and coal accountable – funding a fairer, cleaner, safer world for all.

Who we are
Make Polluters Pay International is a global coalition fighting to ensure that the oil, gas, and coal industry and other major polluters are held accountable for the damage they have caused and contribute fairly to a just and sustainable future.
We believe everyone deserves a secure future – one where no one profits from destroying our climate, polluting our air, or degrading our planet.

Momentum is building
People worldwide are coming together to demand that the world’s biggest polluters pay their fair share. Tens of thousands have taken to the streets. Eight in ten people globally say the industry must pay up for climate damage.
Now, the public demand for accountability is starting to be matched by political and legal action. Across regions, governments and courts are putting forward legislation, litigation, and changes to hold the fossil fuel industry responsible for the damage it has caused. New York and Vermont have passed Superfund laws to make oil and gas giants pay for climate damages.
The International Court of Justice confirmed that states must prevent activities causing significant climate harm.
From UN Secretary-General António Guterres to the Global Solidarity Levies Taskforce led by France, Barbados, and Kenya – proposals invoking the polluter pays principle are firmly on the table.
Across the international agenda, at the UN Tax Convention negotiations and COP climate talks, pressure is mounting on the biggest polluters to pay up.
